A Washington County jury has entered into deliberations in the murder trial of an Aloha man who’s accused of strangling his 78-year-old mother to death last year in her home.
Jurors heard closing arguments Wednesday morning in the case of Michael Lee Reineke, 55, who’s charged with one count of murder in the death of his mother, Norma Louise Gordon. Prosecutors say last June Reineke twice wrapped a telephone cord around Gordon’s neck to kill her.
Testimony from the state’s witnesses concluded Tuesday afternoon, and the defense called one witness, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective Gary Jensen. Reineke’s attorney, Ethan Levi, asked Jensen whether he searched his client’s van, which was parked outside Gordon’s residence. Jensen replied yes, and said he found a bike inside.
The defense had no rebuttal Wednesday.
Nokia Patent Win Over Apple Won't Carry It Far | Mobile phone
Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) have settled a years-long dispute related to patents for mobile technologies that Apple has used in its iPhone.
In 2009, Nokia stated that it had filed a patent a decade before covering “the use of touchscreen technology in phones.” Nokia accused Apple of having used the revolutionary telephone user interface technology without asking permission from Nokia.
But the two companies are now willing to put the dispute behind them by coming to a settlement . Apple agrees to cough up a one-time payment and ongoing royalties to Nokia for the remainder of the agreement (the timeframe is confidential).
“We are very pleased to have Apple join the growing number of Nokia licensees,” said Stephen Elop, president and CEO of Nokia, in a statement. “This settlement demonstrates Nokia’s industry leading patent portfolio and enables us to focus on further licensing opportunities in the mobile communications market....
